About the Author:

SuBa, the pen name of D. Suresh and A.N. Balakrishnan, has been widely recognized for its impact on Tamil literature and cinema. The duo, who began co-authoring stories during their college days at Madras Presidency College, has since made significant contributions. Their very first story was awarded a prize in Kalki, marking the beginning of their illustrious writing career. Over the years, more than 450 short novels and over 450 short stories have been published in leading Tamil magazines like Kalki, Ananda Vikatan, Kumudham, Savi, and many others. Their writing has not only won numerous first prizes in story competitions but has also been translated into several languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and English.

After two decades of working in banks, Suresh and Balakrishnan transitioned to full-time writing. They now reside with their families in adjacent apartments in Chennai. In addition to their literary works, they have made a significant mark in screenwriting for Tamil films and television serials. Notably, Kana Kandaen, Ayan, Anegan, and Yatchan were adapted from their novels and co-scripted by Subha with the directors. Their collaboration on films like Ko and Maattrraan, in partnership with K.V. Anand, as well as 180, a bilingual film, further solidified their reputation in the film industry. The screenplay and dialogues for Thani Oruvan also earned them several awards.

Additionally, spiritual writings have been produced by the duo under the pen name “Kashyaban.” Despite their diverse genres, a distinctive style has been maintained throughout their works, leaving an enduring legacy in both Tamil literature and in cinema.
